Please welcome back Lynne Roberts! She’s celebrating the recent release of her sizzling book, After Hours, and is giving away a free eBook copy to one lucky winner. Feel free to ask questions and leave an email if you want to be contacted directly. Check back Wednesday eve!!

Lia: What is your favorite thing about being a romance writer?

Lynne: There are many things I love about writing. Finding that perfect order of words that says just what you mean, hearing that someone else loved your book, but my favorite part of being a romance writer is falling in love with my characters and their love story. That first moment of discovery…. heaven.

Lia: Oh, that is the best part, isn’t it? I love that. What’s your secret to writing a steamy scene?

Lynne: Inez Kelly actually said something once that made it click for me. Slow everything down. So that’s what I do. I let the scene play out in slow motion in my head and then I focus on all the senses: touch, sight, smell, taste, sound. I’m still learning and at times I have to go back and focus on one sense or another or position my characters a little differently, but it all comes together.

Lia: That’s excellent advice. Speaking of steamy scenes, what’s your favorite sexual position to write about?

Lynne: It must be standing up. LOL. Against the wall, against a desk…I will have you all know that I have finally written a sex scene in a bed. Yay! That story doesn’t have a home yet, but I’ll keep you updated.

Lia: Nothing wrong with a little mattress action. 🙂 Has anything in your real life ever inspired a scene for your book?

Lynne: Yes. A single incident inspired After Hours. I was taking my teen daughter to school and waiting at a red light when across the road walks this man. He had wide shoulders, narrow hips, obviously muscular, but what caught my attention was the way he moved. I swear there was something supernatural about the way his hips moved. I watched him walk all the way… to the high school. Yes. He was a student! All I can say is they didn’t make boys like that when I was in high school. Here is an excerpt from After Hours:

Some men simply walk across a room, but not David.

Elle Simpson watched from her office as the new intern, his hips moving in a predatory roll, strolled to the copier and stood with his back toward her. No, not David.

She felt the color rise in her cheeks as her gaze traced his body, from the dark hair just curling at the nape of his neck, past wide shoulders, to the dangerous-looking narrow hips and an ass made for grabbing. Her body warmed and her inner thighs began to tingle.

Lia: Wait! Don’t stop! Now, that was a tease. Love “predatory roll”. Wow, what a visual. Where can readers find your books?

Lynne: My books are available at the Wilder Rose Press or Fictionwise. http://www.thewildrosepress.com/wilderroses/

Lia: Well, this interview didn’t last long enough for me. 🙂 Always a pleasure to have you, Lynne!!

Lynne: Thank you for having me, Lia!

  1. Hi RK! You're welcome! Lia is a wonderful person. She makes the interviews fun.Cari, aw, thanks and thank you for stopping by.Last night was my baby's Pre-K Holiday program. After the singing, there was a potluck with lots of cakes and candy and sugar-laden drinks. Took forever to get her settled down, so I'm dragging big time today. : ) Hey, that's my excuse for not being very witty and I'm sticking to it. 😀

  2. I've got to laugh about the inspiration, Lynne! I worked at a high school/junior college for a while and some of the boys that came through my office…well they were the stuff of teenage fantasy.

  3. I don't remember them like that! Not even are football players. Now it's like half the guys are models in training! Mothers with daughters beware! We better watch what we say. People might start calling us Mrs. Robinson.

  4. Mary, There's something to say for older guys, expecially when they still give you the warm fuzzies. : )Margaret, No lie! My daughter goes to school with this little boy (y years old) who, though I wouldn't call him sexy, I KNOW he is going to grow up to be a heart-breaker.
